Top Ten Tuesday – Spring TBR

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly list hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This weeks theme is ‘Top Ten Books On My Spring TBR’. My TBR has been feeling kind of endless at the moment. With work taking up more and more energy, my reading pace has slowed somewhat, meaning I can’t get through books as quickly. I’ve tried to pick the books that are priorities and also the most realistic for this list. I’ll be interested to look back in a few months and see how I did. So without further ado, I’ll begin.

1 – Strange the Dreamer – By Laini Taylor

This book ranks highly on my most anticipated releases of the year, and since it’s only a few weeks from release, this will be a priority read for me. I am so extremely excited for this book, Laini Taylor became one of my favourite authors after I read Daughter of Smoke and Bone, so I am confident that I will be starting it as soon as possible.

2 – Labyrinth Lost –  Zoraida Córdova

Labyrinth Lost has featured on several of my TBR lists over the past few months. It’s a book that I am really excited to read, I just haven’t managed to get around to it yet, I’m hoping to change that soon.

3 – The Star-Touched Queen – Roshani Chokshi

With the sequel/companion novel coming out soon, it past time I picked this up. I hear that it has Hades and Persephone elements and beautiful whiting, which I am so here for. With so many people loving this book, I’m really looking forward to reading it.

4 – Empress of a Thousand Skies – By Rhoda Belleza

This book came in February’s Fairyloot box, but it happens to be one of my most anticipated releases for the first half of 2017. I love science fiction,  so I am super excited to read this, especially since I’ve heard only good things about it.

5 – A Conjuring of Light – By V.E. Schwab

Another highly anticipated release, I’ve been desperate for this ever since I finished A Gathering of Shadows last year. But now I’m a little scared to pick up the final book in the Shades of Magic series, I’m worried it will break my heart, but I can’t handle not knowing much longer. I don’t want to accidentally get spoiled.

6 – Defy the Stars – By Claudia Gray

I need more sci-fi reads on my TBR, seriously. I was lucky enough to be accepted for an early digital copy via Netgalley, so this is one I will be getting to very soon, and I am very excited about it.

7 – The Upside of Unrequited – By Becky Albertalli

I couldn’t believe my luck when I was approved for a review copy for this on Netgalley. I’ve been enjoying reading more young adult contemporary novels just lately, and I’m really excited to read this. Early reviews that I’ve seen have been incredibly positive, and I will be picking this up very soon.

8 – The Hate U Give – By Angie Thomas

This is an incredibly important book which is inspired be the Black Lives Matter movement. I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things about The Hate U Give, and I will hopefully be picking it up as soon as it is released in the UK at the beginning of April.

9 – Our Own Private Universe – By Robin Talley

I recently bought myself a copy of this book, and I’m looking to pick it up soon. It’s a young adult contemporary novel, which I’ve been increasingly in the mood for, about a young bisexual girl, with a female/female relationship.

10 – A Quiet Kind of Thunder – By Sara Barnard

I’ve read a number of extremely positive reviews for this book, which convinced be to break my book buying ban. It’s quite a short book, and one that I’m hoping to read soon. I’m interested to read about a main character who is selectively mute and another character who is deaf. I also like how there is a sign language tutorial on the inside covers of this book.
